CCS: What is it and why do we need it?

Ever wondered why too much CO2 in the atmosphere is a bad thing, and what CCS can do about it? Ingrid Snustad, research scientist at SINTEF Energy Research and the Norwegian CCS Research Centre (NCCS), is here to explain.

This is a snapshot from a transient 2D simulation of a boiling film. The black line represents the interface between the gaseous phase (bottom) and the liquid phase (top). The color scale indicates the pressure level from blue (low) through green to red (high). The domain is heated from the bottom, causing the liquid to evaporate at the interface and the gaseous film to grow. Eventually, the film releases a bubble as depicted.
