Webinar: Harnessing Ocean Power: Progressing with WEC Technology through Rig Testing

When: 31 January 2024, 14:00-15:30 CET
Where: Online - Zoom (link received upon registration)
Wave energy converters (WECs) convert the energy associated with ocean waves into usable mechanical or electrical energy. However, these technologies are not yet widely employed. On 31 January, IMPACT and fellow wave energy research project VALID are hosting a webinar on how the technology being developed in each project can support the deployment of WECs across Europe.
IMPACT and VALID answered the same Horizon-2020 call to develop new test rig devices for accelerating ocean energy technology development. Testing is a crucial component of the development of any technology in order to gain valuable insights into their performance, reliability and survivability.
In this webinar, each project will present a case study, showcasing how their technology has been used in the real world for WEC development. The projects will also discuss the benefits of hybrid and accelerated testing in the ocean energy sector and highlight challenges and key achievements from each project.
